AI for marketing agencies: who builds it, and who runs it

Your team already uses AI to write. Your margin leaks everywhere else.

A certified AI Operator joins your agency full-time. They build client onboarding, weekly reporting, content repurposing and launch QA on the stack your team already lives in, then run it every week. Your strategists keep the clients; the operator takes the busywork.

Meet 3 certified AI Operators in 24 hours. Your first build is live by day 14.

The real question

Who should I hire to make AI work in my agency?

Short answer: not another tool, and not a strategist who has to build on nights and weekends. Agencies need someone whose job is the internal machine: onboarding, reporting, QA and repurposing. An AI consultant writes the plan. An AI Operator is the consultant who stays and builds it, inside your agency.

Search "AI for marketing agencies" and you'll find two kinds of result: lists of AI marketing tools, and posts about starting an "AI agency". Neither answers the owner's real question, which is how to deliver more client work with the same team without quality slipping.

In most agencies the strategist writes the strategy, then spends the afternoon pulling numbers into a report, chasing a client for logins and resizing creative. That's the work AI should take, and it only happens when someone owns it.

The first 30 days

What an AI Operator builds for an agency in the first 30 days

Eleven builds that come up first. They cut the hours between "client signed" and "work shipped", and between "month ended" and "report sent".

01
Client onboarding in one form

A signed client triggers the intake form, access requests for ad accounts and analytics, a Slack channel, folders, a kickoff agenda and a reminder sequence until every login is in.

Tools GoHighLevel or your forms, Slack, Zapier or n8n, your project tool

Replaces Two weeks of chasing logins

02
Weekly client reports with a narrative

Numbers pulled from the ad and analytics platforms into one view, with a first-draft summary of what changed and why, for the account lead to edit.

Tools Your reporting tool or a sheet, Claude, Slack

Replaces A Friday afternoon per account

03
Call notes to tasks

Client calls become a summary, decisions and tasks in your project tool, with owners and dates, the same hour.

Tools Fathom, Claude, your project tool

Replaces Tasks that lived in someone's notebook

04
Content repurposing pipeline

One approved piece (a webinar, a podcast, a long post) becomes a set of drafts for each channel in the client's voice, queued for review.

Tools Claude, your client voice notes, Canva

Replaces Rewriting the same idea six times

05
Creative variants for testing

Approved concepts become sized variants, voiceover options and caption sets, so the media buyer has more to test.

Tools Canva, Higgsfield, ElevenLabs, Claude

Replaces Hours of resizing and re-exporting

06
Proposal and scope drafts

Discovery call notes become a first draft of the proposal and scope in your template, with pricing left for you.

Tools Fathom, Claude, your proposal template

Replaces Writing every proposal from a blank page

07
Launch QA checklist

Before anything goes live: links, tracking parameters, pixels, forms and email footers checked against a list, with failures posted to Slack.

Tools n8n, a checklist sheet, Slack

Replaces The broken form a client found first

08
Your own pipeline follow-up

Agency leads answered fast, nurtured and booked, so new business doesn't depend on the owner's inbox.

Tools GoHighLevel, Claude

Replaces Leads that cooled while you delivered

09
Client voice and brand second brain

Each client's voice, offers, banned claims and past approvals in one place that every AI draft reads first.

Tools Claude projects or a knowledge base, your drive

Replaces Drafts that sound like nobody

10
Testimonial and review requests

After a win, a request goes out to the client's real customers through the client's own channels, with nothing written for them.

Tools GoHighLevel or email, Zapier

Replaces Asking ad hoc, or not at all

11
The Monday agency dashboard

Hours by client, reports sent, open tasks by age and margin warnings, written for you every Monday.

Tools Claude, a dashboard built with Lovable

Replaces Finding the unprofitable client at year end

Tool names are examples of what operators are trained on (including Claude, Canva, Higgsfield and ElevenLabs) and connect to. Your operator builds on the stack your agency already uses.

How the 30 days run

Day 1

Pick your operator

Within 24 hours of your call you meet 3 certified AI Operators. Interview them and choose.

Week 1

Activate

The AI Activation call maps your delivery process from signed contract to monthly report. Client data rules and approval steps are set before anything is built.

Day 14

First build live

Usually client reporting or onboarding, because both eat senior time every week.

Days 15 to 30

Build and run

Repurposing, QA and proposals. Every Friday: what shipped and what's next. You reply yes or no.

Compliance and data

Reviews, email, copyright and client data

Not legal advice. These are the questions to take to your agency's counsel before AI touches client marketing. Your client contracts and each ad platform's policies apply on top.
No AI-written reviews or testimonials

The FTC's final rule announced August 14, 2024 bans reviews that misrepresent that they are by someone who does not exist, which includes AI-generated fakes, and lets the FTC seek civil penalties against knowing violators.[1] Builds ask real customers; they never write reviews.

Who owns AI-made work

The US Copyright Office concluded in January 2025 that copyright does not extend to purely AI-generated material, and that prompts alone do not provide sufficient control.[2] Tell clients how AI is used and keep human creative work in every deliverable you promise to own outright.

Email you send for clients

The FTC says each email that violates CAN-SPAM can cost up to $53,088, opt-outs must be honored within 10 business days, and you can't contract away the responsibility to comply.[3] Every automated send carries a working opt-out and a real address.

AI voices and texting

The FCC ruled in February 2024 that calls made with AI-generated voices are "artificial" under the TCPA, which requires prior express consent.[4] Voice and text builds for clients need a consent record.

Client data and NDAs

Your contracts may limit what client data goes into which AI tool. Your operator documents every tool that touches client data, so you can check it against each agreement. They work remotely from Latin America, so include that in your data terms.

Claims in AI drafts

AI happily invents results and statistics. Drafts that state a result, a price or a comparison go to a human who checks the source before publishing.

Where the line is

What to keep human in an agency

AI makes the agency faster. Taste, strategy and the client relationship are what clients pay you for.

Strategy and positioning

The build drafts. Your strategists decide what to say and to whom.

Final creative approval

Every asset a client sees is approved by a person with taste and context.

Client relationships

Bad news, renewals and pricing conversations happen person to person.

Claims and results

Anything stating a number, a guarantee or a comparison is checked by a human against a real source.

Hiring and team decisions

The dashboard shows workload. People decide who does what.

Anything a client hasn't approved for AI

If a contract says no AI on an account, the build respects it.

The price

What does an AI Operator cost an agency?

One flat monthly price for a full-time builder, not a per-client fee. For scale: a US software developer earns a median $135,980 a year (BLS, May 2025).[5]

Proof, not promises

Certified on a build, not an interview

Anyone can talk well about AI. Every operator we certify finishes 40+ hours of training, then a 5-day final project where they build a full funnel with AI, scored on a 25-point rubric, plus an interview.

Common Questions

AI for marketing agencies: what owners ask

How can a marketing agency use AI?+
Beyond copy drafts, the gains are in delivery operations: client onboarding, weekly reports with a written summary, call notes into tasks, content repurposing, creative variants and launch QA. Those hours sit with senior people today. An AI Operator builds and runs them so your team keeps the strategy.
How do you build an AI agent for marketing?+
Start with one repeatable job, such as turning a call into tasks or a month of data into a report. Give the AI your client's voice and rules, connect it to the real tools, add a human approval step, then watch every run. The watching is what most builds skip.
What is the best AI for marketing agencies?+
There is no single best tool. Most agencies combine a general model such as Claude or ChatGPT with design, video and voice tools and an automation layer such as Zapier or n8n. What matters is that someone connects them to your client data and maintains them.
Will AI replace marketing agencies?+
AI is replacing parts of agency work: first drafts, resizing, reporting and admin. It isn't replacing judgment about what to say, taste, or accountability for results. Agencies that automate the production layer can deliver more per person; the ones that don't compete on hours.
Who owns content made with AI?+
In the US, the Copyright Office says purely AI-generated material is not protected by copyright and that prompts alone are not enough control. Human-authored parts, and creative selection or arrangement, can be. Put AI use and ownership in your client contracts.
How much does an AI Operator cost for an agency?+
$3,600/month, month to month, plus a one-time $3,000 placement fee. It's paid once, on your call, and comes back in full if none of your 3 profiles fit. Quarterly ($10,000) and annual ($36,000) plans are also available.
